FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR THE NEW carinox MELTING SHOP IN charleroi, belgiUM
The foundation stone for the new Carinox melting shop was laid on 2 April 2004, in the presence of the Arcelor general management and Walloon government representatives.
The new melting shop is the largest investment decided to date by the Arcelor group. For UGINE & ALZ, Carinox is a strategic industrial project, representing a capital expenditure of 230 million euros, and involves the construction of an electric melting shop upstream of the hot strip mill. The project will make Charleroi an integrated plant for the production of hot rolled stainless steel strip, and will create about 400 new jobs.

"TRANSFER" : A CATERING TROLLEY THAT GOES IN THE UTENSIL WASHER !

UGINE & ALZ and the company 3Bornes (F. Tesnière) have filed a patent for a new catering trolley : it is the first fully stainless steel food tray handling and storage trolley.
The trolley is composed of a stack of 3D modules made from bent stainless steel, which are simply fit together one above the other, and which are designed to take stainless steel food trays.
It is manufactured by TSA Inox and marketed by Rieber France.
The " TRANSFER " trolley is one of the essential elements of the innovative 2Zones2 kitchen, a project also invented by F. Tesnière and supported by UGINE & ALZ.

The advantages of the " TRANSFER "trolley are :
- it is the first trolley that can be cleaned in a utensil washer
- it is perfectly modular (adapted for both grids and trays)
- it is highly flexible (in terms of the number and height of trays)
- it is extremely easy to use (simple superposition of modules).
This new invention has just been nominated for the Observeur du design 2004 ETOILES awards, organised by the Agence pour la Promotion de la Création Industrielle (APCI). The trolley is on display from 18/11/2003 to 08/02/ 2004 at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie in Paris.
